Sons of Italy Scholarships - Frances Dimercurio Memorial.
The Sons of Italy Scholarship is sponsored by the Sacra Famiglia Saginaw Lodge 2456 of the Sons of Italy. The Sons of Italy is a fraternal organization that promotes Italian heritage, culture, language and the education of its membership. The Sacra Famiglia Saginaw Lodge 2456 was formed in March 1980.
The Order of Sons Of Italy La Lupa Di Roma Lodge Scholarship Application Eligibility: Manitoba student of Italian descent Canadian citizen or landed immigrant (proof to be provided) Entering a post-secondary institution: a university or accredited college as a full-time student or entering postgraduate studies as a full-time student Scholarship.
The Sons of Italy Lodge 2456 established the Frances DiMercurio Memorial Scholarship in memory of a special woman who played an integral role in the Lodge’s early success. As the wife of the Lodge’s first president, John DiMercurio, First Lady Frances, better known as Fran, always supported Lodge activities.
The Scholarship Committee is comprised of the following members: Sister Anna Fattorusso and Brother Ray Beretta. In addition to having excellent grades, these students, true to their Italian heritage, will have contributed to their school and communities. Scholarships will be assigned to students in good standing and are based on academic merit. Students are encouraged to apply for other monetary awards in order to help cover an overseas study in Italy. In the past, students have received scholarships from outside organizations like The Sons of Italy.
Applicants will be selected based on financial need, scholastic achievements, activities in high school showing character and leadership, the applicant's personal essay and faculty recommendations. Ethnicity Scholarships. The Pew Research Center reported that the foreign-born population living in the USA has increased rapidly within the last several years. By 2025, this group is estimated to reach a record of almost 15 percent of the population. Even today, there has been an increase in minority and ethnic student college enrollment.
